Eva Lyons, MA

Registered Associate MFT

Eva has a master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy from Touro University Worldwide. She has completed the two-year comprehensive training in the Hakomi model of experiential psychotherapy, and has also completed EMDR training with the Sonoma Psychotherapy Training Institute. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, single-incident and complex trauma, sexual abuse and sexuality, and relationship issues in families and couples. She welcomes clients from all cultural, ethnic and religious
backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual/relational orientations. Eva works with individuals ages 8 and up, families, and couples. She is LGBTQIA and alternative relationship friendly, and a member of Bay Area Open Minds.

Eva works with clients in a collaborative approach that creates a welcoming container of safety and curiosity about the client’s inner world. The client is the expert on the client’s experience, and Eva facilitates the client’s exploration and experiments to find what tools work. She uses a strengths-based, experiential approach that incorporates mindfulness, tuning in to the body’s wisdom, and inviting all the parts of the client to the table. She assists clients in identifying measurable goals, and works toward solutions at the client’s pace.

I believe that our minds and hearts, like our bodies, possess an innate wisdom and ability to heal, given the right environment and structure. Sometimes we get stuck in old patterns and beliefs that helped us in the circumstances we learned them in, but need to be updated in order to allow us to fully embody our best, most authentic and empowered selves. Therapy can assist us in learning more about what automatic programs our system is running, and give us the tools to make these changes.
